Bible open and coffee fresh, I take a deep breath, letting the crisp mountain air fill my lungs.

Buena Vista, Colorado, is one of my favorite places in the world—no picture could ever capture its full beauty. As the sun rises, lighting up the snow-capped peaks, I sit in awe of the glory and majesty of God.

This sacred place became a refuge for me years ago during a painful season in ministry. In the midst of deep and unexpected heartache, I found my way to this beautiful community. Here, under the care of a wise pastoral counselor and spiritual director, my heart was gently led through grief and into healing.

Now, I find myself back in this place of peace. I’m walking through a very different season of life, alongside a man I deeply trust, reflecting on the many opportunities before me.

Through hours of intentional soul care—the kind I often help others experience—I was once again reminded of God’s faithful love and His ever-guiding presence in my life. His grace has carried me all my days, even before I knew His name. Today, I rest more firmly than ever in His favor and timing.

At this mountain retreat, I’ve been gifted something rare in my usual fast-paced world: silence. Unhurried time in His Word, extended moments of worship (often quite literally soaking in worship at the hot springs nestled into the mountainside), and many life-giving conversations have refreshed my spirit.

As I prepare to leave this place tomorrow morning, I do so with a renewed assurance: God’s faithful hand is on my life. He is writing my story—not one I have to strive to control, but one I can watch unfold as I walk each day hand-in-hand with Him.
