If we were sitting together today, I might say this:
Sometimes the quiet after letting go can feel unfamiliar.
We’ve released something we’ve been carrying, and for a moment, there’s space where that weight used to be, and in that space, a question begins to rise:
What do I hold onto now?
Last week, we began releasing what we had been carrying. Not perfectly. Not all at once. But honestly – and that matters.
But we were never meant to simply empty our hearts.
We were created to be filled with what is true.
If we release fear but don’t receive truth, fear often finds its way back in.
If we let go of striving but don’t receive God’s love, we can quietly return to trying to earn what has already been given.
This is where Jesus gently invites us deeper.
Not just to let go… but to receive.

Scripture gives us a beautiful picture for this. It tells us to clothe ourselves with something new.
Not by striving or pretending, but by receiving what God says is already true about who we are and how we are invited to live.
Scripture Reading
Let these words settle into your heart slowly.
Colossians 3:12–15 NIV
Pause and Reflect
Take a few moments to sit with what you noticed from Scripture. You may want to journal or reflect quietly.
You might consider:
- What feels different in me after beginning to release what I was carrying?
- Is there something I’ve laid down that I’m tempted to pick back up?
- What truth from this passage feels like something I need to “put on” right now?
- What would it look like to see myself as chosen, holy, and dearly loved in this moment?
Soul Care Practice – Clothing Yourself in Truth
This week, we practice receiving what is true.
Begin by becoming still. Take a slow breath and quiet your heart before God. Gently recall what you released last week. You don’t need to revisit it fully, just acknowledge the space it has left behind.
Then ask: “Jesus, what do You want me to receive in its place?”
As you sit with Him, notice what comes to mind from the Scripture. You may be drawn to a word or phrase:
compassion
kindness
humility
gentleness
patience
love
peace
Choose one that feels like an invitation for this week.
Then picture yourself putting it on, like a garment.
Not forcing it. Not performing it. Simply receiving it.
You might pray:
“Jesus, today I receive Your peace.
Help me to live from it.”
Return to this throughout your day. When old thoughts or patterns begin to surface, gently remind your heart what you are now choosing to wear.
Sometimes receiving truth takes practice, especially if our hearts have learned something different over time.
That’s okay.
This is not about getting it right.
It’s about staying close to Jesus as He reshapes your heart.
Carry it With You
As you move through your week, notice when old thoughts, emotions, or patterns try to return.
When they do, pause gently. You don’t need to push them away or fix them right away.
Simply notice… and then choose again.
You might take a quiet breath and pray:
“Jesus, I don’t have to pick that up again.
Help me put on what is true.”
Then return to the word or truth you chose from Scripture.
Picture yourself putting it on, just as you did before.
You can do this in small, ordinary moments:
while driving
in a conversation
when something feels frustrating or overwhelming
or even in the quiet before you fall asleep
This is how new roots begin to form.
Not through pressure or perfection,
but through gentle, repeated returning.
Each time you choose to receive what is true, you are allowing God to reshape your heart.
Over time, what once felt unfamiliar will begin to feel like home.
As you move through this week, remember that God does not leave you empty.
He fills you with what reflects His heart.
If you’d like, I’d love to hear what you’re noticing or what you’re learning to receive this week. You can share your reflections as we continue this journey together in our Facebook Group.
I’ll meet you here again next week and in the meantime, enjoy walking with Jesus!
