Mindful Mondays: Time With Jesus Rooted and Radiant – Week Fifteen Tending: Don’t Give Up Before the Harvest

There are seasons in our lives when it feels like nothing is changing.

We’ve been showing up.
We’ve been practicing what we’ve been learning.
We’ve been trying to respond differently, to stay grounded in truth, to remain close to Jesus.

And yet…

Some days still feel the same.
Old thoughts still surface.
Old patterns still appear.
The fruit we hoped to see doesn’t seem to be there yet.

If you’ve felt that, you’re not alone.
This is often the moment when we’re most tempted to give up.

To wonder if it’s working.
To question if anything is really changing.
To quietly drift back into what feels familiar, but there is something important to remember:

We don’t plant and harvest in the same season.

What you are planting now may not be what you are seeing yet.

Sometimes what we are experiencing is still the result of seeds planted in a previous season – old patterns, old responses, old ways of thinking that have taken time to grow.
At the same time, something new is being planted.

Something you may not yet be able to see.

Scripture Reading

Let these words settle into your heart slowly.
Galatians 6:7-9 NLT

Pause and Reflect

Take a few moments to sit with what you noticed from Scripture. You may want to journal or reflect quietly.

You might consider:

  • Where in my life do I feel discouraged because I’m not seeing change yet?
  • Is there an area where I’ve been tempted to give up or go back to what feels familiar?
  • What am I currently “planting” in this season, even if I can’t see the fruit yet?
  • What might it look like to trust that God is working beneath the surface?

Soul Care Practice – Staying Faithful in the Middle

This week, we practice staying.
Not striving. Not pushing harder.
Simply continuing.

Begin by becoming still. Take a slow breath and quiet your heart before God.
Bring to mind an area where you’ve been feeling discouraged or tempted to give up.
Name it honestly before Him.

You might pray:

“Jesus, I don’t see the change yet, and it’s hard.”

Pause there. Let yourself be honest.
Then gently remind your heart:

God is not finished.
Something is still growing.

Ask: “Jesus, what does it look like to stay with You here?”

You may sense a simple next step:

  • returning to truth
  • choosing a different response
  • continuing a small practice
  • or simply remaining present with Him

Hold that gently.

This week is not about seeing results.
It’s about continuing to plant what is good, trusting that in time, it will grow.

Carry It With You

As you move through your week, you may notice moments of discouragement.

Moments where it feels like nothing is changing.
Moments where the old way feels easier.
Moments where the thought comes: “This isn’t working.”

When that happens, pause.

Take a slow breath and remind your heart: “I am planting something new.”

You might pray:

“Jesus, help me not to grow weary.
Help me trust what I cannot yet see.”

Then take one small step forward.

Return to the practice.
Return to truth.
Return to Him.

This is how growth happens.

Not all at once.
Not always visibly.
But faithfully, over time.

And… in the right season, there WILL be a harvest.

As you move through this week, remember that God sees what you are planting, even when you cannot yet see what is growing.

If you’d like, I’d love to hear what you’re noticing as you continue this journey. You can share your reflections as we walk this out together either in the comments here or on the Mindful Mondays Facebook Page.

Keep walking forward with Jesus and see you next week!
