Mindful Mondays: Time With Jesus Rooted and Radiant – Week Nineteen Becoming: Living From What Is True

If we were sitting across from each other right now, coffee in hand, I think I’d ask you something simple: What has been feeling different lately?

Not perfectly different.
Not completely resolved.
Just… different.

Maybe a thought didn’t linger as long.
Maybe something that used to spiral didn’t go quite as far.
Maybe you caught yourself sooner than you would have before.

Small things.

Easy to overlook.
Easy to dismiss.

And yet… they matter.

Because once something has been replaced with truth,
the next step is learning to live from it.

And that can feel unfamiliar at first.

You might notice a new thought rise up
and almost question it.

Is this really true?
Can I actually trust this?
Do I really get to live from this place?

Because the old patterns still feel known.
Even if they weren’t life-giving, they were familiar.

But truth is different.

Truth doesn’t rush you.
It doesn’t pressure you.
It invites you.

To step into it.
To stay with it.
To begin responding from it
instead of reacting from what used to be.

And this is where becoming continues.

Not just replacing what wasn’t true
but learning to remain in what is.

To let truth shape your responses.
To let it steady your thoughts.
To let it guide your next step.

Not perfectly.
Not all at once.

But gradually.

You begin to notice:

You pause more easily.
You return more quickly.
You feel less pulled by what used to define you.

Not because you’ve arrived.

But because you’re beginning to live
from a different place.

A place that is rooted in what is true.

And the more you stay there,
the more natural it becomes.

This is becoming.

Not striving to hold onto truth
but learning to rest in it.

Scripture Reading

Let these words settle into your heart slowly.

John 15:4–5 NIV
Colossians 2:6–7 NIV

Pause and Reflect

Take a few moments to sit with what you noticed from Scripture. You may want to journal or reflect quietly. You might consider:

Where have I begun to notice a shift in how I respond?
What truth feels new or unfamiliar, but present?
Do I find myself returning to old patterns, or beginning to stay in something new?
What might it look like to live from what I know is true today?

Soul Care Practice – Speak it Out Loud

This week, we practice speaking truth.

When you notice a moment where truth is present
a grounded thought
a shift in how you respond
a reminder of what God says
pause and speak it out loud.

Not just silently in your mind
but with your voice.

You might say:

“This is true.”
“I am not who I used to be.”
“I belong to Jesus.”
“God is with me right here.”

Let your voice agree with what is true.

If an old thought tries to return, speak truth again.

Not loudly or forcefully
just clearly
and with intention.

This is not about performance.

It is about bringing truth into your body
your breath
your voice

Letting it move from something you think
to something you live from.

Carry It With You

As you move through your week, notice where truth feels present.
You don’t have to force yourself to stay there perfectly.
Just return when you can.

Again and again.

You might simply pray:
“Jesus, help me remain in what is true.”

And then take your next step from that place.

If something shifts for you this week, even in a small way, I’d love to hear about it. You can share in the comments or in the Mindful Mondays Facebook Group.

Stay near to Jesus as you walk through your days… I look forward to being back here with you next week!
