You don’t always notice when something has become steady.
There’s no clear moment where it happens.
No announcement.
No line you cross where everything suddenly feels different.
It’s quieter than that.
You just begin to realize, at some point,
that something that used to feel shaky… doesn’t feel quite as shaky anymore.
A thought that used to pull you under
doesn’t take you as far.
A situation that would have unsettled you
still matters
but it doesn’t move through you in the same way.
You still feel it.
You still notice it.
But you’re not as easily carried by it.
And you might miss it if you’re not paying attention.
Because it doesn’t feel dramatic.
It feels… steady.
Less reacting.
More grounding.
Less spiraling.
More returning.
And this is part of becoming.

Not just moments of change
but a growing stability in what is true.
Not that everything is perfect.
Not that nothing affects you anymore.
But that you are not as easily uprooted.
Because something deeper has taken hold.
You’ve been returning to truth.
Walking with Jesus.
Offering your everyday life.
And over time,
those small, quiet choices begin to form something within you.
Roots.
Not visible on the surface
but holding you in place.
So when something comes
a hard moment
an unexpected thought
a familiar challenge
you don’t have to try to steady yourself from scratch.
You’re already anchored.
This is becoming.
Not just changing
but being rooted in a way that begins to hold you steady.
Scripture Reading
Let these words settle into your heart slowly.
Colossians 2:6–7 NLT
Jeremiah 17:7-8 NLT
Pause and Reflect
Take a few moments to sit with what you noticed from Scripture. You may want to journal or reflect quietly. You might consider:
Where in my life do I feel more steady than I used to?
What situations don’t shake me in the same way they once did?
Where might God be growing roots in me that I haven’t fully recognized?
What helps me return to truth when I begin to feel unsettled?
Soul Care Practice – Gratitude + Evidence of Growth
This week, we practice noticing what is already growing.
At the end of each day, take a few minutes to reflect.
Begin with gratitude.
Write down 3 things you are thankful for from your day.
They can be simple.
They can be small.
Then take one more step.
Ask yourself:
“Where did I see even a small sign of growth today?”
It might look like:
A pause where there used to be a reaction
A thought that felt more grounded in truth
A response that felt more steady
A moment where you returned more quickly
Write down at least one.
Not to measure yourself
but to recognize what God is already forming in you.
Over time, this becomes a record.
A way to see that what feels quiet
is actually real.
Carry It With You
As you move through your week, remember:
Growth doesn’t always feel dramatic
but it is still happening.
You may be more rooted than you realize.
When something feels steady, take a moment to notice it.
And when things feel unsettled, return again.
You might simply pray:
“Jesus, thank You for what You are growing in me.”
Then continue on.
Trusting that what is taking root and WHO is doing the work within you
is holding you
even when you don’t see it clearly yet.
If something stands out to you this week, I’d love to hear about it. You can share in the comments or join the conversation in the Mindful Mondays Facebook Group as we walk this out together.
Keep walking daily with Jesus and I’ll meet you back here next Monday!
