Before we go any further, let’s just pause for a second.
Not to figure anything out.
Not to try harder.
Just to take a breath and settle in.
Sometimes we don’t realize how much effort we’re carrying
until we stop moving long enough to notice it.
The quiet pressure to grow.
To respond better.
To become who we’re supposed to be.
Even in a season like this one,
where you’ve been walking with Jesus
returning to truth
noticing what’s shifting
there can still be a subtle sense of:
“I need to keep becoming…”
And while that’s not wrong,
it’s not the full picture either.

Because at some point, something begins to shift.
Not just in how you live
but in how you see yourself.
You start to realize
that you are not working toward becoming someone new
as much as you are learning to live from who you already are in Him.
Not striving to be different
but recognizing what is already true.
And that changes the way you move through your days.
You pause, not because you’re trying to manage yourself
but because something in you is already steady.
You respond differently, not because you rehearsed it
but because truth has taken root.
You return more quickly, not because you forced it
but because you belong.
This is part of becoming.
Not just change in behavior
but clarity in identity.
A quiet settling into:
“This is who I am now.”
Not perfectly.
Not all at once.
But truly.
Before we open Scripture, let’s sit with what’s already been happening. Sometimes noticing comes first… and then truth meets us there.
Pause and Reflect
Take a few moments to sit with what’s coming up for you. You may want to journal or simply sit quietly with the Lord. You might consider:
Where do I still feel like I’m striving to become something instead of living from what is already true?
What has begun to feel more natural or steady in me lately?
What truths about who I am in Christ have I begun to believe more deeply?
Where might Jesus be inviting me to rest more fully in who I already am in Him?
Scripture Reading
Let these words settle into your heart slowly.
2 Corinthians 5:17 NLT
Ephesians 2:10 NLT
Soul Care Practice – Abide and Receive
This week, we slow down and let Scripture shape us from the inside out.
Choose one of the passages above and read it slowly.
Read it once to take in the words.
Then read it again, paying attention to what stands out.
A word. A phrase. A feeling.
Pause there.
Read it a third time and ask:
“Jesus, what are You showing me about who I am in You?”
Sit with whatever comes.
You don’t need to force meaning or create insight.
Let the truth settle gently.
You might write down the word or phrase that stood out
and carry it with you throughout your day.
Return to it when your thoughts drift
or when you feel pulled back into striving.
This is not about learning more
but about receiving what is already true.
Carry It With You
As you move through your week, notice when you slip back into striving.
Not with frustration
but with awareness.
Be curious…
Let it be a quiet invitation to return again.
You might simply remind yourself:
“I don’t have to become this on my own.
I am learning to live from what is already true.”
Let that truth meet you in real moments
in conversations
in decisions
in the middle of your day.
If you find yourself reflecting on this during the week, I’d love to hear what’s standing out to you. You can share in the comments or join us in the Mindful Mondays Facebook Group.
Stay close to Jesus this week as you continue to live from what is already true. I’ll meet you back here next Monday!
